Hi B.B.,

I'll post here and also attempt to post in the files

section...

By the way, there are a lot of recipes (especially

vegetarian ones) at www.karenskitchen.com that are

Zone recipes (40/30/30 carbs/protein/fat) that can be

tweaked slightly, as has said... By the way, I

don't believe www.zonehome exists anymore, it did at

one time, and now it's one of those weird marketing

sites that looks like the site, but is just a search

engine thing)

From Amy Robichau-

THere is an AWESOME brownie recipe in the Recipe Talk

of the zonehome page(www.zonehone.com). I've pasted

the recipe below. Note, I had to add much more water

than the recipe calls for, but they came out great.

They don't hold me as long as other snacks do, but

they also don't seem to through me " out of the zone "

either, so I usually wiill save a block of one of my

meals to

have it as dessert. I also made them with carob powder

(instead of cocoa) and peanut butter instead of cashew

and they did fine.

Zoned Brownies

Ingredient List:

5/8 Cup Fructose

1/2 Cup + 1 Tablespoon Cashew Butter

1/2 Cup Egg substitute or the whites of 4 Eggs

1/2 Cup + 1 Tablespoon Water

1 1/2 teaspoons Vanilla

1/2 Cup Unsweetened Cocoa Powder

1 1/2 Cups or 5 oz wt- Protein Powder using 21g of

protein per ounce of powder

3/8 Cup Rye Flour

1/2 teaspoon Baking Soda

1/4 teaspoon Salt

Makes 24 Square brownies, each cookie has about a

1:1:1 ratio

In a large mixing bowl, mix with an electric mixer or

food processor Cashew Butter and Fructose until

somewhat smooth. Mix

in the egg substitute or whites, water and vanilla. In

a second bowl mix Cocoa and Protein Powders, Rye

flour, Baking Soda

and Salt. Add the powder mixture to the liquid bowl,

stir well. Preheat the oven to 325 Degrees F. Place

parchment paper on bottom of a baking pan, bigger than

a brownie pan if you have. Spread the mixture evenly

over the bottom and smooth it by a slight shaking from

side to side.

Bake for 15-20 minutes, at 15 the middle will be quite

fudgy, at 20 it will be more like cake. Cook 15 and

test doneness with a

toothpick until it is just a little wet in the middle.

This also

depends on the oven. When cooled, cut around the

outside with a

knife and the whole thing should just come out, ready

for you to cut. I cut mine into 24 squares (4x6).

That’s one block of snack for each brownie.
