Guest guest
Dear Rainy: I have a scooter. I got it from Medicare. They paid 80%and my Blue Cross paid the remaining 20%. I didn't pay a dime for it. If you would like any info on getting one let me know. There are some tips I can give you. Sincerely, Colletti Anjillah@... Guest guest
Hi Rainy: Glad to hear from you. I just wanted to tell you a few things. First of all you have to have a note from your Dr. saying you need the scooter for inside the house and outside as well. Say to him you need one to wash your floor or vacuum because it is difficult doing it standing. Then you have to let them know that you need it for outside as well cause you can't walk far and there are many times you have to go out and it is too far to walk. Also throw in that you need it when you go to the Doctor too. That always helps. Don't mention volunteer work right now they may think you are too well. Your Doctor has to fill out a special form for the scooter, that has specific questions on it. You can get it from the people who are selling the scooter. Make sure you know how he is answering the questions too. Have him discuss what he is going to put down before he does. It is most important to say you need it for inside and out, not just one. Like I said if you have both Medicare and Blue Cross you shouldn't have to pay a dime for it. The one I got, in August, is a Revo by Pride Mobility Products. I am very satisfied with it. There are many to choose from. I found mine in the yellow pages under scooters. It was only a few towns away. It is a 3 wheel and I get up to 15 miles per full charge. There is a 250 LB weight capacity. Mine has a self-contained removable battery pack with onboard battery charger. So I can charge it by just taking the battery out, (if it is in the car, where I keep it), and all I have to do it attack the cord to the battery and then the other end to a wall socket, usually for overnight or 10 hours or so. It is a little difficult getting it out of the car, but I can do it if I have to. Usually, what happens is someone sees me struggling with it and they come up to me and offer to help. Then I am only so glad to let them, since I have a bad back. It comes apart, into 3 pieces. I use it sometimes when I go to school if I am having a bad day, (asthma and back pain usually makes me need to use it). Remember this: if you are using a car to transport it to an area, (especially if it is late and getting dark out) make sure you have the battery wire (a short wire to connect the battery to the scooter), attached and in place. I went to school one night and I had forgot to attach it and it was terrible trying to put it into its socket in the dark. Luckily a teacher came by and helped, she did it real easy. I don't have good eye sight. I have been lucky, a lot of people have helped me. I am very happy to have my scooter. It is a good feeling to know you can go wherever you want. I went to a picnic with it last summer. It was in a big park. I could have never walked that far with my situation. Well, I wish you a lot of luck. I am glad you are getting one, they are wonderful to have. Enjoy it and keep it touch. If there are any things you want to ask me just email me. Have a happy. Sincerely, Anjillah@... Guest guest
Rainy: One more thing that I forgot. It took about 2-3 weeks. It wasn't long. I can't remember exactly. Getting your Dr to do the note and the form right away will speed up the process. Good Luck
