Hi Rainy yes I tryed the mtx I was so sick on it to many side effects . I think

the

arava is doing a pretty good job what with that and the remicade. I hate being

on the predisone though I have gained 40lbs. Depressing.

Did you ever try MTX with the Remicade? I am curious. I was already on Arava

when I started my Remicade, but stopped it and went to MTX because everyone

says that is the one to use for Remicade. I had previously stopped MTX

because I couldn't take the side effects anymore. I was on it for 12 or 13

years. Well, my body fell apart on the MTX. I called my doc in tears and

said I want my Arava back! I began taking it again at everyone day. I took

my first on a Friday, then my second on Sunday. It took 2 pills at EOD, and

my body was back to how I was before. Arava is very much one of my miracle

drugs.

Hi Kathy, I think the Arava is a great drug. You are right about the

Prednisone. I have been on it for 20 years now. But somehow I got lucky. I

did gain weight with it. I am 5'4 (before arty damage), stretched out, and

weighed in at my appointment last Tuesday at 106.9. Since I began the Arava

I have actually gained some much needed weight. When I began it in January

1999, I weighed about 95 pounds. I did gain some weight (up to about 115) at

one point when I was on 15 MG of Prednisone. As soon as I dropped down to 10

MG a day, I lost all of that added on weight. I think part of the reason why

I don't gain that extra weight is that I hurt too much to get up and go to

the kitchen. So I eat small meals through out the day and buy things that I

can just grab and go sit down. Like yogurt, cheese sticks, apples, etc.
