Wow yes I guess you know what it was like going through High school.

Did you miss a lot of school? I sure did, and the pain of carring

books was terrible. I didn't use a back pack like the my children do

today. I got looks from everyone but they were so nice ( espically the

boys) they carried the drink I got for lunch, (wasn't a big eater)

because they thought it was hard with crutches. My locker was the

BIGGEST problem for me! (smile)

PS

I love this group. It's so nice to have friends with the same problems

.. Thank you all!

I did miss a lot of school the first couple years after I was dx'd. I

actually was able to go through my junior year and not miss one single day.

I used to carry everything I needed for the whole day, because I couldn't

make it back to my locker between classes, and if I had to go to the

bathroom, forget it! Five minutes was just not enough time. But I tell ya,

if I knew then what I knew now, I would have taken my time and said screw em

if I was a couple mins late. :) For me, I was always worried about what

everyone else thought. I was very shy and afraid of people, esp after I was

dx'd. I discovered after I graduated that everyone thought I was stuck up

because I didn't talk to anyone. I was just scared to death of them! LOL. My

senior year I only missed a handful of days. Oh, my sophomore year, geez, I

ended up with chicken pox! Can you believe it! And the doc put me in the

hospital for them. I got really sick! After that, it was pretty smooth

getting through HS, except for the pain. I didn't know then that I could

take something to take away the pain. If I had, I would have carried around

a huge bottle of Tylenol. SOMETHING! :) There are so many things I wish I

had known then and I know my high school days would have been much more fun.

Not that they weren't.

Glad to have you here!
