Guest guest
well they want me back so they can let me go. my whole dept is gone. my boss last day was valentine's day. so they really don't want to pay me benefits for the next 23 years if they don't have to. i just may have to contact my atty again. i did not use one after my carpal tunnel surgeries and accepted their settlement but i have a feeling this time i just might. thanks kathy in il
Guest guest
Hi Kathy, I haven't been posting much lately as I am having lots of medical problems, but that is another story. I know that my company did that to me, as they let me go in December. They wanted me to come back the week before they laid me off. So, I would have gone back to work, lost my disability status and then go on unemployment. Well, my doctors said that was impossible so I guess I should be thankful for this disease. However, with our company and long term disability carrier, once my case went to them they claimed that " they were prohibited from taking any premiums for medical insurance from these checks " and so they didn't. I got a direct bill from them for the medical insurance....boy was that a shock. Once they let me go, I had insurance only until 1-1-02 and then I got a COBRA bill. Boy that was a BIGGER shock than the first one. Oh well, that is corporate America. Good luck Kathy, I know you need to get some resolution on this. Take care of YOU. Hope your foot is feeling better. My rheumy is sending me for OT on my hands 3 x week. As always, Gentle, tender, angel hugs, Deb
Guest guest
Sorry, Kathy! What a mess. Why in the world are they questioning your inability to work now after all of this time? It doesn't make much sense. Also, I read your prior post regarding this woman - sounds like she just doesn't get it. Rudeness isn't called for under any circumstances either. I hope this can get resolved very soon and that their doctor is reasonable. Guest guest
Sorry that you are still not doing well, Deb. I hope the OT can help your hands. That's an awful addition to your already depressing work story. It's terrible that companies try and do get away with such things. COBRA stinks - not entirely, of course, but it really is expensive. That's how I'm covered right now. I'm still shopping for a new policy. I hope Ron's new job will provide you and the kids with good coverage.
