Guest guest
Most people don't drink enough water, according to our sister publication, Consumer Reports on Health. Resulting problems can include everything from muscle cramps, headaches, and fatigue (especially at the end of the day) to constipation, kidney stones, and urinary-tract infections. What's the minimum amount of water you need each day? Do the math: 1) Record your weight: _____ pounds. 2) Multiply line one by 0.04: ____ pounds of water lost. 3) Multiply line two by 2: _____ cups of water needed from all sources--food and drink. At least half should come from water itself, the rest from other healthful beverages and foods, some of which contain a surprising amount of water. (Figure one-third cup of water per serving of fruits and vegetables.) Remember, more is better. It's a good idea to add several cups extra during a scorcher of a day and before, during, and after rigorous exercise. And add another half-cup or more of water for every alcoholic beverage you drink. http://www.consumerreports.org/main/detail.jsp?CONTENT%3C%3Ecnt_id=113177 & FOLDER\ %3C%3Efolder_id=21135 & bmUID=1016393427292
