Guest guest
Welcome ette, I'm pretty new too. I have family members with lupus and their symptoms seem to match my RA symptoms alot. I was also tested for lupus, but was negative, so we settled on a diagnosis of RA. Once settled on a diagnosis and started treatment, things started to settle down a bit. Good luck. Guest guest
ette, I'm sorry you are in so much pain. I hope your doctor will treat your pain as well as your arthritis. Here's an article about lupus/RA overlap. Many times more than one of these autoimmune diseases are found together. http://author.emedicine.com/PED/topic2197.htm Overlap syndromes are well described and mention is made here because SSc, dermatomyositis, SLE, systemic vasculitis, and systemic JRA (ie, Still disease) have been observed by the author in various combinations or in evolution in various children with rheumatic disease. Establishing a specific diagnosis is of importance with regard to prognosis and treatment. In some patients, it may take months to years to establish a specific diagnosis. Scleroderma/dermatomyositis overlap and SLE/juvenile rheumatoid arthritis (JRA) overlap are most common in the author?s experience. http://path.upmc.edu/cases/case143/dx.html This link has a very good article about overlap syndrome. a 3/30/02 7:52:04 PM, tgtb4g <sweetpea777@...> wrote: > > > Date: Sun, 31 Mar 2002 03:52:04 +0000 > > From: tgtb4g <sweetpea777@...> > Subject:[ ] Hi I am new here! > > > > > I have been receiving your mail back and fort for about a week now. Guest guest
Hi and welcome. One of the ways I made my decision, (besides asking everyone I knew that had been implanted) was when I finally made my decision about what surgeon I wanted to do the surgery and what audiologist I wanted to do the mapping. I asked them about the number of implants they had done for each brand. I also asked about their history in terms of repairs, recalls, etc. I live in an area that has 3 implant centers within an hours drive of my house. Each center has several surgeons, some with more experience than others. That was a bigger decision for me because I believe all 3 brands have been thoroughly tested and results are similar. After I chose my surgeon and audi, I then chose the implant they had the most experience with. I am not sure that this is the best way to make a decision but I am just giving you some ideas to consider. I am sure you will get many others ideas.
