Guest guest
Well, I met with 's and 's 3 main teachers today! I'd have to say it went well (even with the math teacher whom I already sort of disliked from where my older son had her years ago). They all said they were both doing well (except for 's math D), went over the grades, they both participate in class, no behavior problems. Then sort of look at me, like, " well? " So I asked them if they had all received anything about 's 504 plan and his OCD. And SURPRISE, they had a copy of the info I had sent the principal at the end of last year about OCD and school!!! So I told them that the year had begun well, but I could see where we were beginning to backslide about needing help from me and explained some about what we faced last year - where I had read to him, completed most of the writing, and sometimes he couldn't do the class work, or worked problems in his head and not on paper in math, etc. They asked me what they should look for in class. Overall, they seemed interested and somewhat sympathetic, especially the science teacher (a man). So I went over most everything regarding present and past rituals/behaviors and did mention about how OCD can be controlled at school or when friends are over or out in public but then can be 10x worse when gets home and friends leave. I had to laugh when they mentioned how close and are. And how protective they seem of each other, always sitting near each other, etc. And how when went home sick that day (when he came home to use the bathroom and then I took him back to school) and found out had left, how CONCERNED was; then how had also felt sick and needed to use the phone. LOL So I set them straight on and his separation anxiety problems. The science teacher said he'd heard of that a lot in kids, seemed sort of fascinated and sympathetic again. Anyway, hopefully, they thought it went well. I did forget to ask about LATE work. That's not in the 504 plan. We haven't had it yet, but I meant to mention how bad it got last year when we couldn't keep up each night and would have to finish the work on weekends to turn in Mondays. I guess I'll wait until that begins happening and maybe write a note (?) Well, I feel much better I guess (still have my doubts about the math teacher tho). Other news today - my oldest son Randall - his Algebra II Honors teacher called me at work today. Said Rand is in over his head and failing and needs to change to regular Algebra II. He had warned me she would probably suggest this and said he wasn't going to change. She said today, he'll have to do it this Tuesday as it's the last day to change class schedules. Something else to look forward to this weekend - trying to talk him into it if he's stubborn about it! Sorry this is sort of long! Everyone have a great Labor Day weekend!!
