Guest guest
Welcome Penny, I am glad to hear your experience with Remicade was favorable, as I also am getting it. So far it is doing me very good. What kind of work do you do? I haven't worked anywhere in over a year. They have closed the Museum where I worked part time as a curator. This I could do and still be on SS Disability, which I've been on for 2 years. Know you will enjoy this group and find them very informative. a and really give a lot to research and linking us up with where to find answers to any questions we might have. Again Welcome, Be Blessed, Becky

Guest guest
Hey everyone, I am hoping that you all are doing well or better. This have been tough around here. Kids have been sick all over again. has that terrible deep body racking cough like he did last year. He also has those 2 scab like circles on his head. They have dried up a bit but not looking any better then that. He is still on ABs for it. Having trouble with the plum. Just want them to call in a med for the cough so that he stops getting headaches and pulled muscles from coughing but they won't cause his yearly referrals aren't up to date and they don't care that I had to wait a week to make his appt with his primary cause they didn't have march's schedule yet. He refuses to go to the block clinic cause its a different dr every time and they always under treat him. In other words he doesn't trust them and neither do I. So his Ortho dr is treating him for everything right now. I just had an IEP meeting at the high school for and he is doing well in school. they are very happy with his work. He is well liked by his teachers and his peers. Next year he takes drivers ed and his is excited. He gets his permit in about 3 weeks. He will be 15 on the 20th and will finally be a teenager on the 6th. He is also excited. also gets to take a vocational test next year as well. It tells what his interest are and what his strength and weaknesses are. When he is in 11th and 12th grade he will be able to go to the vocational school if he wants cause after next year he will have all his electives done so he can do that and he can also work and get credit for it. He will go to work at Coastal Ford with and his dad. will be going to the Ortho dr to have his knees and ankles check out but last night I noticed a lump on his spinal cord up in between his shoulder blades near his neck. He says thats where the bar hits when he is lifting weights but its really big so I told him that he has to have it check out. He got a bit upset cause he thinks I am being over protective but I explained that if the dr said it was nothing to worry about fine but all the could be's and what if's is what worries me. I would hate for him to walk up one morning and not be able to move from the shoulders down cause we didn't do anything about it. He finally agreed so next wed. he goes. My friend had her baby yesterday. she was 4 days over due. She had a fairly easy labor. Got to the hospital at 3am and had her shortly after 5am. I went to the hospital today to see them. The baby is absolutely beautiful. Mom is tired, dad has a glow and a smile that won't quit. Both grandma's look happy. I didn't get to hold her cause she was sleeping. She gave her mom a hard time all night. She wanted to eat all night. Oh yeah her name is Zoe Marie. Please don't ask me how to spell her last night cause her daddy is half Greek and has a very Greek name. All my boys are eager to see the baby. I know is going to fall in love with Zoe and Zoe will love . All babies love . Ok I got to go now. My time to relax. Got another headache started. Been having them alot lately again. I think its time to increase the Zolfot. I have already increase the imitrex from 50mgs to 100mgs. Works much better. By the way we are talking more seriously about having my tubal reversed. All I have to do is call and make set up a surgery date. wants me to do it before I turn 35 and i just had my 34th b-day on the 10th. Well you all have a good and pain free weekend. Lot's of love hh
Guest guest
What kind of work do you do? > Becky Thanks for the welcome! I work for the county district attorneys office as a legal assist. They are very flexible with me, with doc appts and having someone else do my running around if needed, but I just hooked a backpack up to my walker and find I can load up with files and get around pretty good most days! With FLMA, I cant be penalized for having to stay home on a bad day too. I mentioned I had surgery recently...well in November I had a gastric bypass, you know, weight loss surgery. I had gained soo much after years of prednisone, and no mobility, (oh and eating too much!) I was really spiralling down health wise. Since then I have lost 140 pounds!! (I only share this incase anyone else is in the same boat, and was as hopeless as I) Although it hasnt been a cure all, it sure cant hurt to have all that weight off my joints. Also, it really limits what I can eat, which goes back to the food alergy theory that some feel aggrivates RA. Penny, in cold but sunny Portland! Guest guest
Hello Penny, In answer to your question back on March 1st, What kind of work do you do? > Becky I have been on SS disability for two years, haven't worked for about 2 3/4 yrs. However, I started to work in Oct. 1971 with a small company named " PEAVEY ELECTRONICS " which had been founded by Hartley D. Peavey, whom I had graduated from high school with in 1960. This company was making sound equipment: amplifiers and power amps for musicians. I work in production from 1971 until Jan.1990. Took a years sabatical then worked part time as Curator/Hostess in the company museum from March 1991 until my 1st major RA flare in June 1999. Probably a lot of you have seen Peavey products as the company has grown to international level and quite a number of the popular musician artist use Peavey. We also made guitars, keyboards, and architectural sound equipment for businesses, churches, malls, schools, etc.. Enough of that. Sorry to be so long in answering but I had gotten so far behind on my e-mail, as we have been camping and my husband bought him a newer Bass boat so we've been fishing some on these beautiful days we've been having here in the south. Everything is greening up so quick, the spring flowers are blooming, its really nice in between the rain and cool fronts. Sounds like we will get rain both Sat. and Sun. which makes the day messy. We, family and friends, always gather out at my brothers place for a hamburger cookout and egg hunt. Hope all have a Great Easter weekend, and that we'll remember the reason we celebrate it. I pray that all will be pain free and enjoy the activities of the day. We'll be going to our son's in Texas about April 10th for our youngest grandson's birthday, so we'll be gone again for awhile. Therefore I will probably get behind again, but I will be back. May you all Be Blessed. Becky
