Guest guest
I've been away for a bit because we got a new puppy, a cocker spaniel-poodle mix, commonly called a Cockapoo, a female who is 4 months old. Previously we have rescued dogs and had two mini schnauzers, one after the other. Unfortunately the ms seem to predisposed to some really serious problems, autoimmune among them, and both our dogs died from those ailments. The first one we had about 3-4 years, rescuing her at 7-1/2 yeard old, and the second we had only 5 months. She was 9-1/2 when we got her. These were heartbreaking experiences (and terribly expensive too), so even though I've never raised a puppy (and didn't want to), we decided to do it differently this time--and--it takes quite a lot of time, as it turns out. So I'm WAY behind on my email-ing. About traveling to Lourdes. It wouldn't be the thing for me, but I certainly agree that personal beliefs are VERY important, so If a trip to Lourdes is in keeping with your beliefs/intuition, I surely do encourage to do it! About nodules: I have them too. Most of them formed before I began treatment with a DMARD (disease modifying meds), but some even after. They are a lot as described, mostly very small and under the skin so they're not too visible. But I do have some on my Achilles tendons--one really big and one smaller. They feel a bit like cartilege. They don't hurt except when they swell up--them they hurt a lot! Oh, and I am RF positive. Diets: As a diabetic and overweight, I am always on a diet. Just recently I've been trying out the Paleo diet, and I'm losing weight real well but having some digestive symptoms and headaches I don't understand--not too bad though. I would only say this: If you've found that regular diets, that is, low fat, high carbohydrate, don't work well for you and/or you have trouble sticking to them, please consider trying a low carbohydrate diet like Protein Power or the Paleo diet, for instance. I know lots of people have trouble with the Atkins plan, but there are many more low carbohydrate diets out there that emphasize a large intake of non-starchy carbs such as fruits and vegetables. If you try that kind of diet for a week, you'll know whether it's right for you or not--WITH YOUR DOCTOR'S ADVICE, of course! Oh yes, and I have a history of being morbidly obese, as does my sister. The lower, not NO, carb diets work for us. About doctor's advice, I see an endocrinologist and Oregon Health Sciences University and he says cutting carbs is fine--again, not NO carbs. I'm doing a lot better re RA pain. Maybe the higher dose of metho is cutting in at last. Sure hope you're all doing better today. Greatest good wishes to you all, lie in Oregon
Guest guest
Growing up I had a black cocker, poodle & schnauzer mix named Max. He was the cutest thing you ever did see and he lived to the ripe old age of 161/2! His favorite thing to do was roll rocks around with his nose that he removed from our garden, some of those rocks were really heavy ones, too! I must have missed something because I had to delete over 4000 unread emails (my life has just gotten too busy to spend much time on the computer, but that’s another story!!) so forgive me if I ask a question that’s already been answered, but what’s the Paleo diet?? Elly Re: [ ] I'm Still Here Hi lie. Cockapoos are so cute! My mom had one that she rescued that turned out to be the best dog. My mom raises poodles, but couldn't resist saving this poor abused dog. Good luck with your new puppy! I'm not sure how long you've been on the Paleo diet, but headaches are common when eating low carbs but should pass in a few days. This link has a lot of info about low carbs: http://home.talkcity.com/TechnologyWay/wallyb/ It mentions low potassium as also being a cause of headaches with this diet. I'm gald the increased mtx is helping! hugs, a rosiolady@... wrote: > I've been away for a bit because we got a new puppy, a cocker > spaniel-poodle > mix, commonly called a Cockapoo, a female who is 4 months old. > Previously we > have rescued dogs and had two mini schnauzers, one after the other. > Unfortunately the ms seem to predisposed to some really serious problems, > autoimmune among them, and both our dogs died from those ailments. > The first > one we had about 3-4 years, rescuing her at 7-1/2 yeard old, and the > second > we had only 5 months.
