Guest guest
Hi Carol. Prednisone is the drug we love to hate. It has a wonderful ability to quiet the flare. To bad it has such bad side effects for long term use. The dose you are taking sounds like what I was on when I had a bad case of poison ivy. I hope it gives you some relief. Here's a good article that may answer some of your questions: Doctors' Answers to " Frequently Asked Questions " - Prednisone http://www.druginfonet.com/faq/faqpredn.htm a [ ] Flare, finally called rheumy Hi All. I had written about my flare earlier this week. My shoulder got somewhat better, but the pain just moved to my hips and knees. I kept vacillating about calling the rheumy, and finally I did. The nurse was so sweet " Oh, you should have called sooner. That's what we're here for " . It really made me feel good about the care I'm receiving. The nurse called back, and they put me on prednisone for 12 days. I take 20 mg for 3 days, 15 for 3 days, 10 for 3 days, and then 5 for 3 days. I don't want to be on steroids, but I took it an hour ago and already feel surprisingly good. What side effects should I expect? I know to watch what I eat (I've taken 5 mg for a couple of weeks at one point). Does this taper sound about right? Thanks so much for your support and friendship. Guest guest
Hi a, Thanks for the link on prednisone. Very information. Scary...but informative. I've tapered down to 4 mg. a day. Guess I'll try to go to 3 mg. again.
