Guest guest
Thanks Harper! My mom does have some problems focusing her thoughts. I think her diabetes has taken a toll on her. Now that I’m in my new house she is more pleasant to deal with! Re: [ ] Digest Number 2298 Tony, I enjoyed your message about people being judgmental about AIDS. I fully agree with your statements. We experience a little of this " being set aside " even with AIH. It's -- a sort of ethical education for us. , it sounds as if your mother may be having some of the thought/memory problems many of us are dealing with (from Prednisone). I would think that much of the hurt comes not from her telling people, incorrectly, that you had AIDS, but from feeling she hadn't really listened to something so very important. My daughter is chronically ill, and I " forget " some things about her illness, because I find them too painful to process. (She says that's fine, she'd like to forget them, too!) That isn't quite the same as your situation with your mother, however. Harper Group Rules 1. Please no religious, political, race or sexual preference discussions. 2. Guest guest
My mother, who took up knitting as a retirement pastime, knitted my son a blanket with a heavy yarn. I still fold it over twice and just place it over my son's midriff. My son only occasionally asks for the blanket now. I also, pre-blanket, used to lay my head on my son's stomach, or back, depending on what he wanted, for about 10 minutes. I could actually hear his heartbeat slow down as he calmed down. Our OT always told us to remove any deep compression source after 20 minutes because the body quickly becomes accustomed to the pressure and it becomes less effective. Hope you find the right combination soon, lack of sleep is very difficult on everyone. Annette > Also, someone mentioned an OT aids. I was actually thinking of the weight > vest since he loves that deep compression. Can someone direct me to a good > OT product web site and I'll check out their options? Thanks so much! > >
