Hi everyone,

My sister just contacted me and just found out that she has AC Arthritis.

She has thought for years that she had bersittis but went to a doctor for

the pain. They did x-rays and determined instead that she has AC Arthritis.

They want to do surgery on her shoulder and remove part of the clavical. So

far all of the research she has done supports this. Has anyone on the list

dealt with this or do you have any info for me to pass on. She thinks she

wants to trade her AC Arthritis for my RA - she doesn't want to deal with

surgery right now. Thanks for any help

a, I agree with you. Although AC arthritis is extremely painful (I

do have, in addition to my rotator cuff tear, some degenerative changes

in my AC joint - ouch!), luckily, it isn't necessarily part of a

systemic disease and can be treated very successfully.

Here's a few links that will give you information. I don't have any

personal dealings with this, but from what

I've read, I take the trade if I were you. AC arthritis is not a

systemic disease like RA is. It is osteoarthritis

of the shoulder, which is extremely painful and can be very debilitating.
