Kathy in IL--Having some experience working as a secretary in a workers' comp

law office, I know all about IMEs (independent medical exams). Those are

standards whenever there is a claim by anyone. I can guarantee you that the

doctor they send you to will says there is not enough wrong with you for them

to have to pay you benefits--it's all just part of the game, so as mad as it

will make you to see the report, don't worry about it. Since they're playing

their " insurance " game with you and you can't possibly know the rules, I

strongly recommend you get an attorney. Attorneys on these types of cases

charge a percentage of whatever benefits they win for you, so you would not

need to pay up front. It can't hurt to go talk to an attorney who

specializes in workers' comp. Such attorney's usually don't charge for the

first visit either. Oh, and the IME doctor's report ultimately won't have

much meaning. He/she is only one of many doctors who have worked with you

and any judge or hearings officer will realize that the IME doctor is paid by

the insurance company. Good luck.

This is really funny, and I hope you all enjoy it
