Well, it's back. I hurt today and now I know I overdid it yesterday.

I see how it's easy to do this...I felt GREAT yesterday and we're

getting ready to leave for vacation on Saturday. So, I went bezerk

getting ready! Vacuumed the van, cleaned carseats and then moved to

cleaning patio furniture. Oh well. I got it done--when I felt good.

Now I can coast with achy bones. Have you all learned a way of

dealing with these bursts of energy? It's so hard to hold back.

i agree gina, this weather makes you want to get outside and clean up the

yard and the gardens. but i have been inside. only go out to walk the dog,

sit in the sun and make mental lists for my son to do. i am thinking if they

are going to watch me (like lynn) now would be the time. i figure no matter

how good i feel at that moment i would be pulling weeds and next thing i know

i'm on tv!!! just the way my life goes. so i am trying (it's hard) not to do

anything physical outside. well i pulled the garbage out. kathy in il

Jeanne, that's just what I do! The nurse at my rheumy's and I were

discussing this subject on my last visit. When I feel bad I just do the

bare minimum to keep going, so when I feel better there's plenty I need to

get done. I keep hoping that I will learn my lesson about overdoing it, but

I haven't as of yet!

Sorry, Jeanne!

I do the same thing all the time. I know the consequences of overdoing

it, but it usually doesn't stop me. I'm paying for a few foolish

escapades over the last couple of days right now. The weather made me do

it!

Hope you're feeling better today.

-Hi Jeanne......and Hi Group! I'm new to this group and this is my

first posting, so bare with me. First, Jeanne, I'm in Ohio, too.

Newark. So..howdy, neighbor. I was dx'd in 1996, I think. Seems like

forever. Dx'd immediately so no confusion there. But plenty of

frustration ever since! RA IS THE PITS!!! But it isn't a death

sentence, so we all just do it a day at a time. I take mtx,

sulfasalazine, predisone (tho not for 4 days now..see how that goes.

This weight has to go..lol),lots of folic acid and calcium,

arthrotec, and a small dose of elavil for the sleep thing. Whew!

Won,t go into the other vitamins and herbs, except to say that I was

taking an iron supplement until my rheumy assured me that I didn't

need it and that it only increased joint pain...who knew?. Used

Enbrel for 6 mo. butjust can't afford it. It did help, tho. And eased

the fatigue for awhile. I have insurance, but enbrel would use it all

up in a few months; so, I write letters to Congress and buy an

occaissional lottery ticket.....lol.

-In response to those bursts of energy, they are too few and far

between, aren't they? But that's when my house gets real clean. Or

the basement gets shifted around. Or the patio gets cleaned and moved

around. Hope I get an energy spurt in May so I can plant! I can

always count on needing a few days r & r following all the activity.

But, I do try to do little bit every day (moaning the whole time, of

course). And I've just started to try to exercise every day...low

impact only....and it does seem to improve my energy and stamina so

when those energy bursts do occur, they don't take such a big toll.

- Has anyone tried yoga? I'm looking into it. Hope it will improve

flexibility and stamina, too.

-My hands took a huge hit and don't work their best, so my posts may

not be regular. And, I promise in future they won't be this

lenghthy..lol. Just wanted to introduce myself and to thank you all

for being here to offer support. I hope I can do the same for you.

Hi Jeanne. I deal with these bursts of energy by doing all that I can do.

I've learned to go with the flow and enjoy the good days and rest on the bad

days.

None of us knows from day to day, how we are going to feel. I think this

makes us appreciate

time moreso than a healthy person. We are so elated when we have a good day

and try to do

as much as we can, but wind up paying a price for it. I think the longer you

live with these rheumatic

diseases, the more you come to accept your limitations and try to live within

them.

That's just my two cents for whatever it's worth.

I hope you recouperate quickly and enjoy your vacation!

I am so glad I found this group. I read about people that have some of the

samethings I have going on. I think I am still in denial even after 15 years

with RA, I hate being tired all the time. Just cleaning my bathtub can bring

me to tears, because my hand feel like rubber sometimes and don't do what I want

them to, then I can't get on my knees and if I do it is hard to get up. After

cleaning the tub I am to tired to do anything else. I am really looking forward

to summer because I seem to have more energy when the sunshines.

A lot of the things I read about I didn't even realize it might be the RA, and

it will help when I loose some weight, of course.

It is hard, because I can't work anymore (I am a hairdresser and have been for

33 years) because my legs won't take it and I have slowed down. We could really

use the extra money and I can't think of much I can do. Here I go again whine,

whine, whine.

This group is a good thing. I only wish there was one in town here that met

each week.

You guys are great. in WA

Hi Guys!

Thanks for all of your input!! I don't feel so alone about " overdoing

it " . We're off to South Carolina in the a.m., so I'll be away for a

week. Don't know if I mentioned that I got my scleritis back. I have

my drops and one reserve bottle too. Hope I won't need it. Well, I'm

off...Wishing all of you a wonderful and hopefully pain-free week! ;)
