Guest guest
i have just asked my friend at work to find the timely and portable laws in illinois. my mom mentioned her and my sister would split the premium, but my sister has bought a new car. and my parents just ran up more credit card debt with laser eye surgery on their dog. plus i'm sure cobra would be quite costly. i want to be able to look at some options. but unsure how much time i have. kathy in il

It's so hard to get in touch with some of these agencies! Maybe you'll have to go there in person or write to them? Are you going to apply for COBRA continuation of your insurance? I only bring this up because I don't have insurance right now, and I called to ask about getting coverage and they said you have to be in remission for 5 years in order to qualify. I'm not sure, but as long as you don't let your health insurance lapse, I don't think they can deny coverage. I know that is just one more thing on your plate, but it sure makes it a lot harder to access the better medications if you don't have insurance. Hang in there! Guest guest
Hi Kathy, I have just really been reading lately. Not feeling so great. I read this note of yours and I feel so bad for you. I know how you feel, I am involved with an insurance claim now. It is a terrible thing to go thru and very stressful. These people who cause us so much stress and additional pain should be in our shoes for one hour. But it doesn't work that way. Keep calling that number and trying to get help. I agree you should look into medicade or anything else that is out there. I know it will be tiring doing all you have to do this week, I wish there was a way you could relax. I hope in the following days you can get some answers. You are in my prayers. Lynn I guess I should sign this way now since we have a new Lynn. Guest guest
can some one tell me what it means to have a high red blood count? Is it normal for RA? This doctor I'm seeing is not talking or doing anything. Maybe it's time to change doctors. I am so depressed. Guest guest
thanks lynn, actually today i have 4 dr appts!!! one thursday, one friday one saturday and 3 tuesday!!! i am trying to see everyone while i can and stock up on scripts and samples. i don't think i'll have time to be calling today. but maybe tomorrow. i will not be able to last very long. i just may have to go out and get a part-timer unless i qualify for unemployment. i don't think i can cash the severence money. i think that will release them from any other involvement. so i will have to be careful wqhen it comes. kathy in il
Guest guest
Hi Kathy, Boy, have you been thru it! As far as my severance, I could not get it UNLESS I signed the release. As far as my COBRA, in the state of Florida, I had 60 days from my date of determination and I am still fighting with them. I got confirmation from the post office, that they tried to deliver my check on Friday, and they never picked it up, so it was delivered on Saturday. As of 5:00 PM yesterday, I still had NO insurance. The formal complaint letters go out today. My next step will be to go to the media. So far, in one week's time, my employer/health carrier has been in the newspaper, 3 days and not favorable publicity. So it can't be just me!!!!!!! I wish I had some magic words or a magic wand to make all this go away, but alas, this is the real world. I will be sending you my love and pray that God gives you the strength to get thru these difficult days. Guest guest
so if you sign the release, you are telling them you will not go after them. what about unemployment? i am just scrambling trying to get everything settled. my foot dr says there is nothing much he can do for me and says i am getting worse. he sent me to a neurologist today, but with only a few days left of coverage i really don't know what i can do. i did get to leave my complaint message at the eeoc today!!! i left my phone # and address so we shall see what happens. if i don't hear anything by the end of next week, i will call again. i'm just trying to figure how to survive being $400 a month short. kathy in il
Guest guest
Yep, that is right Kathy. I could not file any legal action against them. However, I could file for unemployment if I was able to look for gainful employment. I guess the bottom line was I couldn't get disability from my employer AND get unemployment benefits because if I was looking for work, I wasn't disabled. Kind of a catch 22.... Guest guest
As far as I know a high red count is good. The red cells are the ones that carry iron around and a high count would mean you have lots of iron which means you have lots of hemoglobin which mean you have lots of oxygen. Opposite of anemic but I can't imagine how it would be bad! Just my opinion and understanding-no medical background. Guest guest
thanks cris, i thought i would be getting my long term disability benefits but i was getting too close i guess. i am not on enbrel anymore. i got way too sick on it. i have the main prescription assistance information service, guide to prescription assistance programs. my counselor got this for me. i have to go through that too. they are all different guidelines. how ofter and how much. it was enough to deal with by itself. but now this and just normal auto immune life. makes me crazy!!! kathy in il
Guest guest
Kathy, So sorry for all the complications.....as if the disease weren't enough. When I became disabled (from Amtrak) Cobra was automatic for six months because my disability was health related. You might ask about that. In the railroad industry we had a pretty good union so, of course, it might not be the same for you. And we use the RRB (railroad retirement board) instead of SSA. Nonetheless, I had to wait a whole year to get full retirement benefits for permanent disability.Thought I'd be spending my retirement in a mental hospital. All the stress is nearly unbearable. But hang in there. We are all here to listen. One thing I wanted to mention is that if you do lose your insurance, Wyeth-Ayerst does have a program for free Enbrel. See the Enbrel web page for the phone # and they will give you the details. I don't know what meds you take, but most pharmaceutical companies have similar programs for folks who have no coverage. It can't hurt to ask, right? Please have faith that things will improve. Easy to say, I know. But a lot of us have been there and if you can keep your sanity things do get better. When a door closes a window opens, true. Just sometimes you have to use a crow bar to loosen the window:-) Hope you can relax a little and get some rest between appointments. You are in my prayers. Guest guest
Hi Lynn. Sorry you're not feeling so great. How's the eating coming? Have you found things that agree with you? Did you go to the new ortho yet? I keep praying for a happy ending to all that is going on with you. Hopefully your attorney will get things moving now that they located all your files. Hope you feel better. hugs, a Re: [ ] i ran into a big wall!!!! Hi Kathy, I have just really been reading lately. Not feeling so great. I read this note of yours and I feel so bad for you. Guest guest
Hi a, How are you feeling? I do have an ortho appointment for May 17. I went with the help of my sons father in law. Actually, this Dr., is seeing me because of this man. But he doesn't want to be called into court or a deposition. I decided to see what he has to say and go from there. I tried to contact my attorney about this, but when he called back I wasn't here. So we couldn't hook up. When I eat everything tries to come back up. I am sticking mainly with soups, fish, eggs, trying to get protein. I think and this is probably crazy but it has been so long since I have eaten regular meals that I don't feel like eating. I still get very sick to my stomach but I am learning to deal with it all. All this legal stuff is not helping me. It is very upsetting, I keep thinking what if the ss doesn't go through what then. It is just a difficult time. Finals are coming and I am glad school is ending. The economics class is so hard and I don't expect to do well, so far I only have an 75. The hardest part is yet to come, but I am giving it my best shot. I thank you for your prayers it is what is getting me through all this. Hope you are feeling well with our crazy weather. Guest guest
Hi Lynn. Been feeling pretty lousy this week. I had 3 really good weeks and then bam, swell city here I come. Enbrel is nothing but water again. Sometimes I wish I could get the stuff analyzed to see if it's a good batch. I just don't understand how it can give me such relief from inflammation, but every so often it does nothing. I guess I shouldn't complain considering I was bedridden much of the days pre-enbrel. Can you get a referral to an ortho that will testify for you or at least give a deposition? It seems like a waste to go if he isn't going to do anything for you. I know all the legal BS isn't helping you very much. I pray that it is over soon and you can spend more time figuring out how to eat again. I hope by the time you are a year post surgery, that you will be able to eat better. I think under the circumstances, a 75 in economics is pretty good. If you didn't have so much going on I'm sure your grade would be higher. Good luck with your final. hugs, a Re: [ ] i ran into a big wall!!!! > > > Hi Kathy, > I have just really been reading lately.
