Guest guest
<<I even told my doctor " ok I know what it is like to have Arthritis now make it go away. " Wouldn't that be nice.>> Boy, that certainly is my sentiment today!!! I am pretty new to RA (diagnosed in Jan) and am not really able to give any good advice, but I'm sure someone will come along soon who can help. Warm regards, Carol in FL [ ] New and whining I am 51 years old and have had RA for 15 years, I am lucking one respect, I have very little damage. I have tried plaquinel (which worked for awhile), Gold shots (hated them) didn't work at all then they put me on methotrexate oral med., worked great for awhile, then started backing off of the upped my dose to 30mg, no differents. Next they added sulfazaladine(sp) no difference, went to methotrexate injections, no difference, then Enbrel, Arava (helped my hands somewhat), then Remicade, Feb. and Mar. we tried Kineret, still no change. I am back on 27mg of methotrexate injections, to soon to tell. What I would like to know is if this is common, I don't have trouble with the side affects but they just don't work. I really feel like a whiner because I look healthy, no deformaties yet. I guess I would like to know if there are others out there like me. No deformaties don't make it less painful and although they say I am still pretty flexible there are alot of things I used to be able to do that I can't now. It is really frustrating. I even told my doctor " ok I know what it is like to have Arthritis now make it go away. " Wouldn't that be nice.
Guest guest
Welcome to the group! Sorry that you've been dealing with RA for so long, but I'm happy to hear that you've had minimal damage. I'm afraid it is possible to try a wide range of treatments and not get adequate relief. Yet, even if you don't feel great, maybe that long list of meds was actually working all these years to slow down the destruction. So, for you, perhaps at least the meds are keeping your joints functioning pretty well. It's impossible to say, of course, but it could be. Ideally, you wouldn't be in a lot of pain either. Do you take anything for the pain? It would be great if it would just go away. Let me know if your doctor figures that one out! In the meantime, don't lose hope. New therapies are on the way. Guest guest
The doctor that I asked to take the RA away was in Oregon and I have a new one in Washington, I doubt that he will be able to accomplish that but really like him much better so far. My Oregon Dr. offered to give me pain meds once and I refused it, I want to go as long as I can without that. I have pain that come and goes, my joints always feel like a have jammed them all really hard, but I think I am doing pretty well, they are concerned about the inflamation. While getting ready to move from Oregon to Washington, which was a nightmare(23 years in the same home) I ran out of my medication and went without it for at least 2 mo., I am also on synthroid and wasn't taking it either. I figured out the reason for the meds big time. I am much better than I was then but still some problems exist, I learned a big lesson and now I take my meds faithfully everyday. Thank you for the welcome, in WA <Matsumura_Clan@...> wrote: Welcome to the group! Sorry that you've been dealing with RA for so long, but I'm happy to hear that you've had minimal damage.
