Guest guest
An alternate point of view: http://www.benzo.org.uk/ I don't want to scare anyone, just want you to be informed. There can be protracted withdrawal effects with benzodiazepine class drugs, lasting at least a month per year of usage but sometimes longer. Like with pain medications, if you need it for severe problems of course that is the overriding concern. I was taking Klonipin for a seizure disorder for 7 years, and it took my body years to recover. It was during the stress of recovering that I first had my RA symptoms. I waited a long time to see a doctor, thinking the symptoms would resolve themselves once I healed fully. Unfortunately, I delayed treatment for RA and have probably sustained permanent damage. Guest guest
Thanks for sharing your story about Klonopin (clonazepam), Carol. I'm sorry you had such a horrible experience with it. It's not my intent to recommend or push benzodiazepines or opioids with the information I posted. My focus was on the terminology. There is much debate and confusion over just what addiction, physical dependence, and tolerance mean. These misunderstandings can also be an obstacle to people getting the effective, safe treatment they need. I appreciate that you and others (thanks, too, Judy in AZ!) are urging caution when it comes to Klonopin (clonazepam). Like many of the drugs members of the group take, it is a very serious medication and must be treated as such. Please everyone: research, ask questions of your physician and pharmacist, and follow ALL prescription instructions and cautions very carefully! Guest guest
<< It's not my intent to recommend or push benzodiazepines or opioids with the information I posted.>> , I don't want you to think that I think you are trying to push the use of these medications, and it is important that people understand the difference in the terminology. I considered myself having suffering from an addiction to Klonipin for a long time, when in reality it was more tolerance. I don't think I ever really knew the difference, and I appreciate learning more about the specific differences. I so appreciate all the information you share with us! Guest guest
Thanks, Carol! Just checking. The last thing I want is any misunderstanding like that.
