Lynn, I'm very sorry to hear that you're having a terrible time with the

methotrexate side-effects. Are you taking it orally or by injection? How

much? How much folic acid? Please call your physician as soon as you

possibly can about your headache and ask him/her what to do about it.

Mention your fatigue as well.

Sorry, we can't really OK the Tylenol - only your doctor can. It's

always safest for you to check with your physician before adding

anything, even if it is OTC.

Let us know how you are doing when you can. Better luck!

Hi Lynn. Sorry you're feeling to terrible today!

I have nausea sometimes with the MTX, and my doctor gave me Phenergen to

take with it (an anti nausea drug). I'm not sure about the Tylenol,

especially with the coumadin. I would suggest you call your RD and ask

about the Tylenol and also mention the throwing up.

As far as the sleepiness, I get that for about a day after I take the MTX.

Feel better soon!

Hi Everyone!!

Sorry...I've been having problems with my ISP, so I'm posting from

the group site. Thank you all for the welcome! I started the

Methotrexate on Thursday, I've been given Trexall and folic acid.

Today, I woke with a headache and now am sick to my stomach, can't

eat a thing, have been throwing up. Taking some gingerale.

Is it okay to take tylenol for the headache? I'm really tired,

too...suspect being on coumadin, which is already thinning my blood,

and adding Methx to it, is making me sleepy.

Thanks for your help...hope everyone has been ok!

Hi ! Thanks for the response. I'm feeling better today...the

nausea has eased off, so has the headache although I still feel it

hanging around. Fortunately, my rheumy accepts phone calls for the

first hour of the morning, so I'll call her and let her know. I went

to bed early and I'm falling asleep at my desk already! Gee...maybe

it's just a combination of old age, too!

I feel for all of us...after reading Bob's post about the financial

strains this has put on his life. I suspect most of us here are now

under a financial strain...even with health insurance! The co-pays

can get ya if you are on several meds and see several different

doctors. And here we are in America...something seems wrong with this

picture...Methinks we need some sort of lobby like big business has!

Hope this is a better day!

Hi Lynn,

If I were you I would check with my dr. especially since you are on a blood

thinner.

I take tylenol or advil but nothing else.

I have been head-achey since taking the remicade but that maybe something are

bodies have to get used to.

Hope you feel better

Hi Lynn,

Sorry about your side effects. What time of day do you take your

methotrexate? I've been told taking it at night helps some people sleep

through the side effects. Also, with your doctor's permission, you may be

able to space out your pills (if you are taking orally) over several hours,

which also can mitigate side effects.

As far as nausea, this may sound kooky, but one of my co-workers, a cancer

survivor, swears by it. When she was taking chemo, she used Imodium A-D for

nausea. I can't say I've tried it, when I started taking methotrexate I

stocked up on the Imodium, thankfully, I haven't needed it yet.

My pcp is a great believer in Tylenol, which is the only aspirin product she

lets me take. However, it's always best to check with your doctor first,

before taking anything, even something over the counter!

Hi Suzanne,

I take metho as an injection, I can't put the pills through my stomach. I

am going to call the Rheumy today. Once I felt better and started to think

about all this, I remember feeling ill almost immediately after the

injection. I hope this is not the problem because everything else has

failed for me. Metho is my last hope drug. Thanks for your help. Hope you

are having a good day.
