Guest guest
Dear : Hi , it is Colletti, how have you been? I am okay. I just read this email and I have a question for you. When I had a Rheumatoid Factor done my Dr. said it was kind of high, over 400. I see in this post it has measurements as 1:120 or 1:180 and others. Would you know why my Dr. told me it was over 400 and what that means. I am sure the test was a Rheumatoid Factor. Could it mean like 1:400 or something like that. I can ask him when I see him but I wanted to know what you thought about this. Take care and Happy Birthday. Thanks for your help. Guest guest
Hi, ! Nice to hear from you. I'm glad you are OK. Thanks for the birthday wishes. I'm OK, too, thank you. I'm guessing that in your case your RF was reported as 400 IU/ml (International Units per milliliter), but it's hard to say without more information. Do you have copies of any of your labs? On the printout they usually give your result and the range for normal, and then you can try to see what all of it means. Let me know if you have any copies of your labs and we can take a stab at it. By all means though, ask your doctor about this when you see him if you are curious. This is why I was lamenting in my response to Jeanne that the tests aren't standardized. There are numerous methods for testing for RF and many different ways of reporting the result. It's very confusing for patients and doctors. Apples to oranges comparisons all over the place!
