Guest guest
HI I went for all my preliminary tests for the Remicade study and I get my first infusion on May29.........I will be paid $25.00 a visit ....and there will be 14 of them.....in the beginning there are 3 groups......I have a 33.33% chance of getting a placebo, 3mgRemicade, or 10mg Remicade an infusion........at the 14 week mark they make sure everyone gets the remicade and then if you have the 3mg they will raise you up to 10mg as needed ........and if on 10 you stay on 10 through out ......the study lasts 46 weeks ........and then they follow you up by phone calls in 3, 6, 12 month spacings.........and she was offering a guy there who had been on remicade a while a 36 hour study in the hospital for $1000.00....and they give you a private room , meals, all amenities ..just have to take blood samples every hour from IV line put in at start...I dont sleep well in the hospital any way but a thousand for sucking some blood every hour out of me ...I could handle that. There are all kinds of studies going on here ..........I was in one in oct-Dec that pd $280 ....they still owe me $100. and it was a study on chronic diseases and coping and stress ........and ways to help.....and I get the $100 in June after they send us the last survey to see how we are coping.......... Anyway , I hope the remicade works for me and that I will feel a difference ..........I can hardly wait ...they did a joint check on me today........between painful and swollen.....I dont think there was only but a couple that werent bad........and I told them I am so used to a certain amount of pain I dont consider a lot of my pain as real pain........you know what I mean? Welll must go.........Judy in AZ

Guest guest
Doreen, I wonder when the study ends if you could ask to be notified whether you were taking TCZ or the placebo. It might help your doc plan future interventions. Just a thought, best, Kate F ________________________________ From: Mimi <mimi212@...> Sent: Monday, July 27, 2009 8:24:21 AM Subject: [ ] Re: study group Hi Darlene - I participated in a study group for TCZ. Unfortunately, the group that was running the study was very disorganized and caused me a LOT of undue stress, so I quit the study after three months of infusions. I wasn't feeling any better, so I don't know if I was getting a placebo or the real deal. I haven't been able to work for a long time, so a work schedule was not a worry for me. I was there for at least 2-3 hours each time, though. They drew blood each time, did a SED rate, the infusion took about an hour and then I had to wait about 20 mins or so afterwards so they could recheck my BP. Hope this helps to answer some of your questions... ..Doreen > > Has anyone done a study group for TCZ - tocilizumab? How did it go? > results? How did it work into your work schedule? > Would love to hear stories,if any. > Thanks, Darlene >
