Guest guest
Judy, How wonderful! The cost seems so prohibitive, how nice to get it free for such a long time! Has the methotrexate stopped working for you? Did it used to work and then stop? Do you stop taking methotrexate when you start Remicade? My mother complained of sciatica pain. I remember how much she said it hurt. Is there a treatment for it? Good luck with the Remicade study and let us know all the details! Guest guest
Well, i had my first infusion of Remicade today..(or the placebo)from the study I am in. It wasnt a bad way to spend time....they took blood and urine before infusion and then wait an hour after and take blood again....I have had a headache all day(started before the infusion....have been having them all weekend....like migraine trying to start). I go back again on June 12 for the next one. I was talking to the other people getting infused ....one a lady of 70 ish who said she thought she'd try the study to see if it helped , and the other was a 20yo girl who did the study for a yr and was now on her second infusion on her own insurance. She said she felt so good from them....she was dx'ed about 2yrs ago....The older lady was only taking MTX for her RA....she said she was allergic to aspirin(like I am) and I asked if she took any muscle relaxers or NSAIDS or pain relievers.........she said no...she preferred to live with the pain.....ok, whatever...........i guess she just wanted to stop joint damage....who knows? Anyway, I am going to go lie down and see if I can knock out this headache before I go to sleep....I spent most of weekend in pain...my back and ribs hurt like a mack truck had run over me.........I finally got that pain to go away yesterday ...thank God... Oh they do a joint check before the infusion too.....amazing how much pain I have daily and tolerate ......I was telling someone today how I still remember the last time I had a " GOOD " day....it was 2/15/01...I was walking to the mailbox to get mail before going to lunch with a male friend......and I said WoW, am I loose.......I felt like I could have kicked myself in the butt cos my hips and legs were so loose and free moving ...I actually walked with a normal gait ......and then 3/5/01 I had that first hernia repair surgery and then down hill from there. I have had better days since 2/01 but nothing like that GOOD one..........I would love one of those again........I can dream ....Judy in AZ
