Guest guest
Joanne, Out of curiosity, what do they require to determine eligibility? We're self-employed, so do they determine income from tax returns? Thanks for the info, and I hope you have a pain free day! Carol [ ] Thanks for responding and getting involved... Hi Just a short note to thank all of you who have written to me to support and offer support. We are affected negatively one way or another by having a serious chronic illness. And a how right you are...Canada and others provide health care for their citizens...why doesn't a country a big as ours provide socialized medicine???? A friend in England disabled has everything she could possibly need to help her and she tells me that she has never worried about doctors, meds, physical therapy or income. Wow what a relief that would be for many of us...it is surely a disgrace. For those seriously interested in joining hands, please email me and let me know. I am sure that together we can make a difference...alone we have no power. I wait to hear from all of you hopefully. Please know I realize how hard it is to even bother at times as I am in the most serious phase of RA I have ever experienced...a great deal of pain and crippling and repeated infections and nothing to date is working. So know that I sincerely and personally understand the difficulties of just getting up each day. In the interim I would suggest once again if you can email, do so to be an advocate for the Arthritis Foundation. I intend to call them to see how we as a group can do something also to bring to light our needs, some which are very desperate. For those in need of medication...I have received Kineret and Enbrel free thought the pharmaceutical companies as well as other meds...many are free for the asking. If I can assist let me know, but all of the companies that I know of have a patient assistance program. Again...prayers Joanne

Guest guest
Carol, They are all different. Some have asked only for me to state my income over the phone and others have asked for a summary of my bills for the last 3 months. All are different but I have not been refused as yet...I live on Social Security and for a few more yrs, a monthly income from the hospital I worked for (disability) Low income is not the only requirement with some.
