Hi All

If I can be of any help for those interested in antibiotic therapy, I will

be happy to answer any questions.

I have done the entire protocol including seeing a Rheumatologist in

California (I live in AZ), who is known for using antibiotic therapy for RA,

Lupus and Scleraderma. I have not only used Minocin and Doxycycline but also

IV Cmycin, one week of IVS every 5 weeks for 6 months and the oral

antibiotics for 2 yrs.. I am positive for 3 mycoplasmas but then again most

people are positive for at least one. I have had RA for 19 yrs.

Hi

Would you mind sharing how long you were on the AP approach before

benefits were shown to you…also any side effects you experienced from

the doxy….though I know side effects are individualized…and do you

recommend this treatment compared to other DMARDS you were on…

I am on the doxy twice a day….with sero negative inflammatory..

Thanks…

Hi ,

It was so good to see you post. You have been missed!

Unfortunately, I don't have any input on the AB therapy, but I am so sorry to

read that you have been so sick. I hope that you are now on the road back to

better health.

We may not see you post, but always know that you are in my thoughts and

prayers.

Gentle, tender, angel hugs,

Debs in FL

Joanne-

Thank you for offering information on AB treatment. I

have not been active on this site much this past winter.

I have had a problem with both kidney stones since

November ( lithotripsy in February) and then a

mycoplasmal pneumonia and gonzo amounts of stress at

work ( which I suspect may have made me at least

predisposed to the pneumonia). After and during the

pneumonia...I am just getting over it..I read alot about

mycoplasmal infections and wonder if that isn't the key

to most of my problems...first and foremost the RA. I

was treated with Biaxin for the pneumonia...Doc also put

me on advair and a different reflux med...which have

done wonders for my breathing and actually for my

overall mood...perhaps being able to breathe again is

also a cure for depression...LOL. I have some scarring

in the lungs apparently...I suspect as a result of two

pulmonary embolisms I had a few years back. My biggest

concern is that I have heard antibiotic treatment is

primarily effective for early RA and not someone who has

had RA for a long time. When did you start the

treatment? I have been positively diagnosed with RA for

14 years but it was suspected as long ago as 1974 when I

was in college.

Any info you can provide would be welcome. I need to get

into my rheumy and discuss this as treatment. I am

currently on pretty standard stuff...plaquenil, pred,

methotrexate, folic acid etc.

Thanks so much Debs. I try to keep up reading the posts

at least in Digest form. You and many of the others here

absolutely amaze me with your staying power. You too

remain in my prayers daily.

Hugs,

Hi

Unfortunately having RA for at least 15 yrs when I tried the antibiotic

therapy, I believe it was too late for it to work on me. I do believe that

it has been shown to work on newly diagnosed disease. I had absolutely no

benefit from either the Minocin, Doxycycline or IV Clindamycin and I gave it

the full time to work.

Good luck to you

Joanne

PS. I have heard of Minocin causing darkening of the face like a mask but do

not know if it is related to dose or time on the med.
