National Fibromyalgia Association: Patient Information

Fibromyalgia is a chronic illness characterized by periodic, widespread

musculoskeletal aches, pain and stiffness, soft tissue tenderness, general

fatigue, and sleep disturbances. It commonly manifests in the neck, back,

shoulders, pelvic girdle, and hands, and may affect as much as 6% of the

population of the United States. While there is currently no cure for this

disease, there are steps patients can take to reduce its effects and prevent

future outbreaks. Visit this site for coping strategies, information on

disability benefits, an overview of the disease, clinical trial information,

upcoming events, newsletters and publications, and other illnesses

associated with fibromyalgia.
