Guest guest
Hi Louise, I have had the same problem with the Remicade. I've been on it for 2 years. I told my doctor that the last 2 weeks before my treatment are rough & I spend the week after I get the treatment recuperating. I asked about switching to every 6 weeks. However, he said that the insurance may not like that so we're increasing the dosage first. If that doesn't work, we have more cause to ask the insurance to go to six weeks. I have been on 200 mg since I started the treatment and am now going up to 300, as of my next treatment on June 19. After this discussion with my doctor several weeks ago I saw an article about a study that followed patients that had been on Remicade for over a year and developed the same problems we have. The conclusion of the study was that, after a year, the benefits of the drug were still high but dosages may need to be altered because your body begins to develop a resistance (which makes sense). Hope that helps. If you have any questions, feel free to post to the list or email me.
