Guest guest
Hi Mike: OK. So how does this cause obesity? 1. Does it improve appetite so that people eat more? 2. Or improve their intestinal absorptive function so they extract more of the calories they eat? 3. Or make them physically lazy so they burn off fewer calories? 4. Or make their metabolism more efficient so they can perform their usual daily tasks with a lower caloric expenditure? By lowering body temperature as a possible example (which, of course, is a biomarker for longevity). Preservation of fat reserves was one of the characteristics of the longest-lived of the CR mice in at least one experiment, according a post of Warren's here a couple of years ago. Are there other routes, in addition to those listed above, by which something like this might cause obesity? It sure would be interesting to know how this works, whatever the mechanism turns out to be.
