Guest guest
Hi folks: According to this, coronary artery calcium (also detectible non- invasively, by HCT) is a far more sensitive barometer of CVD than carotid IMT. But HCT does entail irradiation. " Carotid IMT was 20% higher in CAD cases compared with controls (P<0.001), whereas mean [coronary artery calcium] was 1000% higher in CAD cases than controls (P<0.0001) " . http://atvb.ahajournals.org/cgi/content/abstract/25/8/1723?ct This also explains one of the reasons why excessive calcium intake is no more desirable than a calcium deficiency.
