I am looking into getting an electric patient lift and the one that appeals to

me is the Hoyer Advance. It's called " portable " because it folds down for travel

and is a bit more compact then the older metal, hydraulic lifts. Has anyone had

any experience with it? Or any " portable " electric lifter? Please share!

Hi a...

We've had our Hoyer Advance for just over a year and it is GREAT!

Just the difference between an electric and manual lift has made it

so much easier in caring for our son.

I don't know what type of floor you will be using it on, but a hard

surface works best. Ours is a laminate floor, but we do have to use

it on carpet a few times a year and it is harder to turn with the

weight of the person in the sling. You might check with the company

or a vendor, if you have carpet, to see if they have an option for

the type of wheels on the unit.

The fact that it is portable is a bonus for us, since we travel to

visit our daughter and son-in-law at least twice a year. My husband

packs the small trailer we pull behind our van, and the fold down

feature makes it more compact and helps him to arrange everything

with less re-arranging.

Hope this has been helpful.
