Guest guest
Hi all, I had a relationship question. A couple months ago, I was surfing around MySpace and came across a guy's page who seemed really sweet and down to earth. I was just bored and looking to meet a new friend... not really looking for a boyfriend or anything like that. Well, we started chatting online and recently he admitted that he had developed romantic feelings towards me. He knows about my disability and is okay with everything. We've gone out a couple times and it truly doesn't seem to bother him at all. This is all new to me. So far, my friends have helped me when we've gone out (they drop me off, pick me up, bathroom, that sort of thing). It's gotten to the point where we'd like not to have to depend on my friends since we'd like our privacy and a little more freedom. He's offered to help me with whatever I need and is eager to learn... it's just that I don't know how to go about doing this. Part of it is fear and the other part is I'm afraid it'll get a little awkward. All my friends that I depend on for help are people I've known for 9+ years so there's all that familiarity. When it gets to this point in a relationship, what do you all do? Have some sort of " How to take care and handle me " orientation where someone trains them? lol Or do you slowly over time teach them things until it gets less awkward and more comfortable? I'm just curious on how others have handled this situation. Thanks, Deena
