Guest guest
EG, I did an analysis of my BP versus my intake per USDA database nutrients for a 9 month period. I got the same associations touted in medcial books and pubmed articles. Changing some of those, getting more potassium, less sodium, more magnesium, less fat, less protein, more carbos made minor changes to my BP but it did nothing to cure the disease or lessen medication. It's a genetic feature. ONLY less calorie intake can lower BP, of course weight loss, but it didn't cure the problem. The biggest effect was finding out I was allergic to wheat. I have a disease, aetiology unknown, as are many diseases. That means they cannot be causally related to anything. Most of the diseases have been studied for many years. I also noticed that well people eat just about anything they want. Sick people go to the doctor and the data gets recorded for some analyst's future. But most well people do NOT go to the doctor. Ergo, the data is skewed. Most don't do marathons, rather they play bridge, watch TV. I go every year, sometimes twice, and the answer is in the medication. Gene therapy or stem cell therapy may arrive in the next 20 yrs, but I don't bank on it. CR seems to be the only thing we have at present. AFA vit D is concerned, I'll ask HOW many people get their D level measured? Maybe 1%? We need a lot more data, including well people, to make a viable association. Regards. Re: [ ] To supplement or not to supplement that isthe question This reminds me of the Woody Allan movie where he wakes up in the far future to find out that hot fudge sundaes are actually healthy and everything we heard about food was topsy-turvy. Seriously, after all the many many studies posted here about Vit D, it's hard to believe this one maverick paper. How does he account for the fact that most of the U.S. Population is deficient in Vit D (that is -those who aren't supplementing)? Is everyone sick with serious diseases like MS? If so, it's sure hard to believe.
