Guest guest
Folks: in spite of being on CR for about 7 years, I continue to sleep poorly. My doctor says there's nothing wrong with depending on pills, but I would prefer not to; or at least only occasionally rather than often as I do now. I do seem to need more sleep than I get and don't function well on the nights when my sleep is poor. And I have developed a tolerance for some of the sleep aids on the market; so those don't even work well anymore. This started in my late 40's right before menopause (I am now in my 60's) and seems to be what they call sleep disturbances that come with middle and older age. My mother also slept poorly, relied on sleep medications for many years, but lived until almost 98, so I am hoping that this does not affect my longevity, but who knows? I have tried just about everything under the sun (fish oil, melatonin, more exercise, yoga), but nothing seems to work long term. When I first started yoga it seemed like my sleep improved for a while, but then went right back to square one. We have discussed this before and even have a couple of " polls " taken in 2004 in our " polls " section. And Rodney even posted a hypothesis about why women in particular, have poor sleep quality as they age. As we continue to draw new members and better studies and insight into such things, I'm always hoping that someone will have a magic " whatever " to tell me about sleeping better naturally. Anyone?
