Guest guest
I received an off list question from a newbie requesting suggestions on how to keep hunger at bay. We have an entire file on this subject: In the folder: BEGINNING CRON which is called " Aids and Tips " . But perhaps the file could use some updating. So please chime in if you have found something that works for you and we'll update our files if your tip isn't already in it. Dr W of course has lots of suggestions in his book. Including guar gum. I tried that for a while but did not find it to work very well. For some apparently it does work. For me, I find that if I just eat small meals (and stop before feeling full), I do fine. I eat many small meals and snacks and that is what works for me. When we eat out I virtually never finish (except perhaps for salads). I always take home a doggy bag. I have found that over time, I have less desire to be as stuffed and full as I once was. 2) eating big. Increasing the amount of high nutrient dense, low calorie dense foods, like fresh fruits and vegetables, allow me to consume more food without consuming more calories. The " bulk/volume " goes up but the calories go down. Soup is a wondeful tool for this as vegetable soups are very bulky and filling and have very little calories. I make up big patches and keep it around in the refridgerator and freezer. Regards Jeff
