Assuming there was a problem with her milk then you need some sort of medical intervention. 99% of vegans would have no trouble with this. Guest guest
Hi folks: Of course I agree. And there is a broader point here. It is that, as a general principle, it is inappropriate to go off on some wild tangent wrt health without first making sure you know enough about the issues to be confident you really do understand the consequences of what you are doing. Which is one reason I like this place, because of its emphasis on serious evidence. (IMO the coconut oil issue may be another example, where some people have read some nutcase ranting on an obscure website and may be doing things that more careful attention to the details might suggest may be sizeably detrimental to their health. As I said: IMO). Of course there isn't much about health that is known for absolutely certain. Guest guest
Hi Jeff I agree with you. I viewed the video clips when this story came out, and they showed the apartment of the couple - there was no food on the cupboards, and no food in the refrigerator. Nothing can be more ignorant than that. I'm not sure why they labeled themselves vegetarians or vegans. Moderation and selectivity in critter consumption (I now eat fish and fowl upon occasion) are less glorious but are sounder bases for living life and partaking gratefully in what we have been given on this earth as food, I've determined, for myself. ;-) Maco

They probably were, and they probably based their ignorant malnourishment of their baby on their beliefs, as they claimed. Certainly wasn't very good PR for veganism.
