Guest guest
There is little information on the internet, and perhaps nothing from reliable sources, as to how calories from fiber *types* really should be counted (or not counted). The general impression I'm getting, albeit from unscientific sources, is that insoluble fiber counts as 0 calories because it is not absorbed, while soluble fiber is partially absorbed and counts as 3-4 calories per gram. Food nutritional labels do not appear to include insoluble fiber in the total calorie count, but I have noticed the soluble fiber calories in the total count -- at least in many cases. Of course, it is sometimes hard to tell, due to all the rounding of numbers on those darn labels. Does anyone out there have the official word and references on the soluble & insoluble calorie counting? Thanks, -Dave
