Snoring (seems to be solved)

It's now been 3 nights in a row that my husband has stopped snoring (and

thus enabled us to share our bedroom). I can't remember the last time there

has been such a stretch of non-snoring nights but it's at least a year.

The simple, inexpensive nasal spray seems to be working!! How interesting

that sometimes just knowing about the simplest solutions solves life's

little problems. Thanks again to the person who sent me the off list

suggestion.

BTW the nasal spray works well for respiratory problems too. I have aborted

colds (although it's rare for me to even feel one coming on - knock wood)

and it's a boon for clogged sinuses and sinus infections (so I hear).

I’ve gotten several off list requests for the name of the nasal spray that has been so effective for solving my snoring dilemma. It’s just your run of the mill Saline Nasal Spray (that’s what it says) in a plastic spray container, sold over the counter in the cough and colds section of the drugstore. Mine happens to be CVS brand but I’m sure they’re all more or less the same.

And I’m sure the throat spray they sell over the counter for snoring is probably just as effective, since snoring seems to emanate from the throat.

Some recent research regarding saline spray and irrigation has come

from the U. of Mich. (where I work). The second site is the patient

education sheet from U. Mich. on how to do an irrigation.

http://www.med.umich.edu/opm/newspage/2007/sinus.htm

http://www.med.umich.edu/1libr/guides/saline.pdf

The research suggests irrigation leads to " substantial improvement "

compared to saline spray, but they both helped. It is also cheap and safe.
