Al: although the author may have some good points in this article, it is definitely all ruined with his ad at the end for his “Rosedale Diet”.

I would respectfully ask you not to post any more such “ads” here. Thanks.

The attached article interests, maybe, for its longevity and CR aspects.

As I sit here reading this surrounded by ads, my attention is drawn to mention of Dr Rosedale. I recall his lecture on insulin resistance several years back as a classic for understanding type II diabetes and metabolic syndrome. So by all means caveat emptor, but lets not dismiss every author with a book as a charlatan.  Not only a diet book but read he sells supplements too (strike two). I would be right with you to gong this guy but IMO he is a real Dr, credible on the topic of insulin metabolism, and it appears he is now working with leptin affects too..If he makes a few bux on the side pimping diet books and vitamins good for him, JRPS: I'm just teasing about the ads. You may (or may not) be right. But if he’s the genuine article, let’s see it in peer reviewed studies (our usual litmus test) rather than on some pat-myself-on-the-back website that he enriches himself with.

I won't wrestle with you.. Just sharing my opinion. The lecture which was my first exposure to him was from a talk he gave in 1999.Forget the the diet book and supplements, I already have. I have found a link to the original classic lecture  http://www.lowcarb.ca/articles/article149.htmlI offer the lecture as a very easy to read explanation of insulin metabolism. There are typos and off the cuff advice given that does not rise to the level of peer reviewed clinical research but a doctor sharing experiences gained from his diabetes practice.   I know other's are riding his coat tails, top few google hits for Rosedale lecture link to our buddy Mercola, not even Rosedale.or his book.Do not buy his book, Do not buy his supplements, (I sure don't),  but do read the lecture and judge for yourself if it was worth reading, YMMVHappy new Year all..JRPlease ignore the ads on this page tooOn Jan 13, 2008, at 9:12 PM, Francesca Skelton wrote:You may (or may not) be right.  But if he’s the genuine article, let’s see it in peer reviewed studies (our usual litmus test) rather than on some pat-myself-on-the-back website that he enriches himself with. From:  <crjohnrbellsouth (DOT) net>Reply-To: < >Date: Sun, 13 Jan 2008 20:07:15 -0600To: < >Subject: Re: [ ] Longevity, CR story   As I sit here reading this surrounded by ads, my attention is drawn to mention of Dr Rosedale.
