Guest guest
Hi everyone I usually don't post I joined the group several years ago to gain insight on living with SMA as one of my closest friends kas Type 2. When she got sick and thing were not looking to good I wanted to know what was going on her head and heart. At that point she was not ready to share everything was just so overwhelming because her disease progession had been subtle to that point. Joining this group allowed me to gain some much needed understanding and was extremely helpful so for that I thank you all. I am posting today because I am pursuing my MSW and my area of study is Disability. I am taking an Occupational Therapy class where are end of the semester project is to assess playgrounds for accessibility and make recommendations to St. Louis City. I think one of the best things to do first is ask those who use or want to use playgrounds what they need or want. So for those of you who are parents of children with a disability what are things that make a playground accessible " what would an ideal playgeound " look like? For those of who have disabilities.. Did you go to the playground a lot as a kid (outside of school) if not why not? What was or would have been your favorite activity on the playground? I would also love to get some feedback from kids as to what they would like to have on a plapground? Thank you again for all the support and any insight you can provide for this project would be greatly appreciated.
