Guest guest
Honestly? I wouldn't by them anymore. She won't starve herself, I promise. Just keep offering healthy foods! Guest guest
Your not worrying too much...just being a good mom. I have struggled with the eating feuds(tonight was real fun) for ten years now. I think they say something like you have to offer a child a new food sixteen times before you can officially declare defeat. I have found that if I let them help me in the kitchen they are much more willing to try it. My youngest is three and loves to help. Sometimes he causes more work, but he thinks he's helping and it gets him more involved with mealtime. Plus it keeps him by my side while I'm cooking so I can keep an eye on him. He is pretty active so he usually grazes. Good Luck! Suzanne .. > > So has decided that she will only eat chicked nuggets or hot > dogs at lunch/dinner. Guest guest
How long should we make her sit though? We let her sit for an hour the other day and she still wouldn't eat (she has her daddy's stubborness ) Do we give her like 20 min then let her get down without eating? Guest guest
That's probably making her rebel even more. I kinda let them graze, get up for a minute to play, cime back have a few bites, etc. Olivia is good cuz well, she's FIVE lol but Phin is a busy boy. Two and three year olds are fuuuuun. Guest guest
, I've seen lots of toddlers go thru similar times (my own children, of course, were never this ill behaved.) Without exception, all of them came thru this none the worse for wear. Their parents were generally patient and indulgent and eventually just let them eat their favorites. If you are really worried, let her have a vitamin (Flintstones vitamins taste pretty good.) She'll be fine, especially if she's still eating fruit. And being worried is also normal. Guest guest
Well, I¹m not a mom but if it were my kid I would just let her eat hot dogs and chicken nuggets for breakfast lunch & supper until she is so sick of them she will be begging you for something else!!! ;-) but really, it¹s quite healthy to live on a mainly fruit diet so I wouldn¹t worry. Guest guest
Don't worry, you're just being a good mom. My mom pretty much let me eat anything as a kid because I was so scary thin. They were just excited to get calories in me. But now that I'm an adult I feel that that was one of my mother's few mistakes because I have horrible eating habits now. I am kind of old-school when it comes to kids. She's not going to starve herself. That's just human nature. So if you make her miss a few meals she'll eventually give in and eat the healthy food that you provide. I am the most stubborn human being in the world so you just have to be more stubborn than she is. Also, my mom tried to make healthier food fun, like peanut butter and rasins on celery, stuff like that. Good luck. Guest guest
Hi All, Thanks to everyone who responded! Just an FYI........I called 's pediatrician and she said I could put her on a 1/2 Flintstones chewable a day to make sure she's getting what she needs. She also said that every toddler goes through this stage, keep offering her other foods but if she will only eat a hot dog, let her eat it. She said that she's asserting her independence and (since she's still getting used to using utensils) finger foods allow her to be a big girl. Tonight was a good night and she ate chicken rice with carrots She's growing up too fast......... Guest guest
I know exactly what you mean...I still cannot believe my girls are nine and two months away from turning five. Just cherish everyday, even when you are pushed to your limits. I miss the days when I was able to cradle my girls in my arms... One bit of advice from a mom with a VERY picky eater, don't be afraid to get creative and experiment with foods and meals. Harley would live on fruits, veggies, and salad if we allowed it, but le will barely touch any of it. She'll eat very little fruits while carrots and cucumbers are the only veggies she'll willingly allow to cross her mouth. Over time, we have learned to camouflage such items in the foods we serve...hot dogs or chicken pieces are mixed in with mac and cheese, various veggies are stirred into a meal of Hamburger Helper or a casserole, green beans or shredded carrots are cooked into a meatloaf, etc. A majority of the time the veggies are barely even noticed, but the objective is obtained. Good luck... Amy M. From: Milinovich <dvlwksp@...> Subject: Re: OT: Toddler Eating Habits Date: Monday, December 29, 2008, 9:16 PM Hi All, Thanks to everyone who responded!
