Guest guest
Last week the Sinclair's lab at Harvard published a paper in Cell in which a new link between fasting and mitochondrial health is proposed. According to their report fasting promotes increased expression of the enzyme Nampt which is critical for NAD+ biosynthesis. Cells in which the enzyme is increased (either by fasting or by over-expression achived by genetically engeneering mice) show enhanced resistance to sress induced by various chemical agents. http://www.cell.com/content/article/abstract?uid=PIIS0092867407009737 http://www.technologyreview.com/Biotech/19413/page1/ Andre
