Guest guest
Hi Francesca: Regarding the exercise issue: My take on this paper is that it is *NOT* suggesting, as you appear to believe, that the implications are that excessive exercise beyond the amount required to keep you 'fit' provides no additional benefit. It seems to me it is saying that for animals on CRON even the amount of exercise (not much) a rat will voluntarily take on a running wheel just for fun is no better than sitting around in its cage doing next to nothing. (Although the running, the paper indicates, *is* measurably beneficial for a *fully fed* rat.) Are you sure that this is a widely held view? That no exercise at all, beyond sitting around doing nothing, is as good as any other amount of exercise? In any event, it was news to me. And it must certainly also be news to those here who, from time to time, pop out of the woodwork to advocate substantial amounts of exercise of various types. Perhaps a future paper will contradict this one? Cardiologist Dr. Henry " Fitness has absolutely nothing to do with health " must be smiling right now : ^ ))) Rodney. > > Rod: FWIW I got somehing entirely different from this.
