Guest guest
Anyone watch it? I haven't seen it since we got rid of TV back in January, but I'm an avid fan of the podcast. I just realized you can watch it online - watch this episode. After the horse intro, it's about a man with SMA. Let's discuss! http://www.sho.com/site/order/preview.do
Guest guest
Thank you, Amy! I didn't know it was on TV. I've always listened to TAL on NPR either on the radio or streaming at the web site. Wonderful portrayal of the different perspectives in this situation...the young man with SMA, his brother, his mother, his assistants, his girlfriend, and the interviewer. I wonder what ny Depp thought. This piece really illustrates how technology has changed options for significantly disabled people and how social policy is slow to catch up. I like how it didn't make any of them inspiring heroes, just people trying work through the situation they're in...the love, their frustrations, their sometimes cross-purposes. Nice.
