Guest guest
Rodney I have noticed this for quite some time but it has gotten worse. Clothes have become more "relaxed" and wider and bigger. Even the exact same sizes, have become bigger then they were 10 or 20 years ago. The industry calls it "vanity" sizing. Clothing Size Variation in Women’s Pants, Kinley, T. R. "I know" I said, " if you did I wouldn't need to ask. So what size of yours corresponds to 37 inches?" "Try medium", she suggested. I tried medium. It would have been just right if I was eight months pregnant, but I'm not, nor likely to be for a multitude of reasons. So I went back and asked her what sizes they have. "We have medium, five sizes above medium, and one size below medium called small. But they don't manufacture shirts in the small size." Sigh. Remember the 'outsize' stores specially for people above normal clothing sizes who couldn't find clothes they could fit into at regular stores? It is getting to be that those are now the normal sizes and the 'outsize' stores will soon be devoting themselves to people like us. Rodney. Guest guest
A friend from the Philippines bought 3 " medium " shirts for me and they were just right. American " medium " shirts are too big for me. I also have trouble getting pants. I am of average height (5'9 " ), but I have difficulty finding pants with 32 " waist and 29 " inseam. My waist is too small and my legs are too short ;-) I am a daschund in a St. Bernard world. Beware of their relaxed fit pants. Tommy Hilfinger calls their small t-shirts XS, as in extra small. Their small t-shirts are the former medium, and they are huge. The only dress shirts that fit me well are Nordstroms tailored fit, othewise in a " small " shirt I'm swathed with hanging sheets of material.
