Are the constant UTIs thing common for SMA ladies?

I'm testing positive for UTIs to the point I'm on antibiotics in around

two week rotations. {take ten days of antibioitic, finish it, have UTI

symptoms in about two weeks, then test for another UTIand get treated

again...}

My bladder has a 'pocket' so it never completely empties. I found this

out when I couldn't get it empty during a nuclear scan to check a hip

hairline fracture for infection {totally painless test btw}

I take cranbery pills, try to pee more often but really have no choice

somedays but to limit fluids or hold on til I got a place to lie down.

I get them all the time. I was told by my primary that because I sit all

the time - I am more prone to them because the bacteria just sits in one

place for extended periods of time. When in an able body person they are

moving and the bacteria is usually moved around pretty frequently. Hope

that helps! Jami

It used to be a horrible problem for me, almost exactly as you

described. Thankfully, they never came back after my pregnancies which

is odd! The only thing that was different was ALL I drank was water

(and one latte) a day.
