I may come across as a bit passionate about the diet, but that is because over the past 7 years I have seen and /or been a part of the transformation, including my own daughter, that took underweight or individuals with significant strength loss and transformed them once they began using the AA diet. I shared my information and posted the files because individuals here expressed concern or frustration over the inability to gain weight or loss of strength. I've shared what has worked for my daughter and many others that I have personally set up diets for. My information was not meant to sway others who are perfectly happy with their current diet, especially diets that rely heavily on dairy/animal proteins. If these people are happy where they are (and certainly something must be right for them, given the fact that they are apparently healthy and thriving!) I am not out to change them. I was only offering suggestions and my experiences to those looking to make a change. If you are one of those people looking to make a change and have any questions about the AA diet after you looked over the materials I posted, please feel free to ask me. Guest guest
To anyone interested in considering this type of diet, Suzanne is an invaluable resource. I am a caregiver for Victor Alvarez--a 22-year-old college student with SMA II who has been on an amino-acid based diet for four years. Suzanne helped us set up the diet and has been available any time we had questions. Victor gets most of his nutrition by g-tube at night and eats what he wants during the day including some protein. His weight has gone from 40 pounds to close to 80 pounds. Other benefits have been fewer secretions, fewer and milder respiratory infections and more energy. Guest guest
I wish the best on but I'm soo fatigued from 40 years of 'new' SMA treatments.
