Guest guest
Hello Everybodoy, Hope those in the states here had a wonderful thanksgiving. We had a very low-key holiday with just a few family members but enough food for 5 times that many people! I have some good news I wanted to share with you guys... After 2.5 years of searching for a full time job after getting my masters in social work, who woulda guessed in the not-so-great American economy that I'd get HIRED!!! YAY! I will be working for part of our welfare to work program doing " Holistic therapy " with a really unique division in the program that offers counseling along with nutrition counseling, exercise classes, yoga, and acupuncture --all offered by venders who come on site... I will be working my first full time job (Have done 30hrs per week before, this will be 45!) and am very nervous. I have 3 great attendants who are gonna help me as much as possible, but the hardest part is the commute - it is 1/2 hour from home and the hadicab service does not go that route!...the bus does but that is a 1.5 hr trip each way with transfers. My staff can thankfully drop me off and even come some days for a bathroom break...but i cannot afford the wear/tear on my van to have somebody come back all those miles to pick me up (Essentially making it 2 round trips a day). I'm considering using a taxi to get home and using it as a Impairement Related Work Expense. I also have an ad out for somebody who already commutes to that area to carpool - if they drive my car, I will give them free gas for the favor (and no wear/tear on their car!) - I think a great deal, but nobody interested yet. Needless to say, the best bet is living closer, but because of my debt, I cannot afford to move out of my parents home for about a year with my bills that need to be paid off. I'm freaking out, to say the least. I have this wonderful opportunity but am scared that I cant figure out the transportation and wont be able to do it! Any advice? I also have the fear of what to expect the first day and CAn i really do this, can my body handle it... I worked so hard to get here, and dont wanna " fail " (in my eyes) Wishing you all a wonderful weekend, and advice would be so appreciated!
