Guest guest
We have to work together. When I think of " good " campaigns, the gay agenda comes to mind. They have worked together to get huge sums of money for AIDS research, have made media blitzes, and have celebs speaking out for them. They use their buying power to influence marketing and product endorsements. We need just one, or a handful, of groups to work together like that. The fact is, there are some things that are good about CAA. It will help kids with autism. Sure, it doesn't address the biological roots. But it will help some. Like a stroke victim needs to thin his blood, he also needs speech/language therapy and occupational therapy to restore lost functioning. While a child with autism needs the root problem fixed, a child with autism will always (provided they get good therapists) benefit from speech, OT, and other good therapies. Again, the gov is not going to convict themselves. This is where we have to do the work ourselves. We have to find groups in every locality who are willing to call the same news broadcasters every day for a month until they run an unflattering story, then call again for another three months until a slightly more balanced story airs, and in the meanwhile write letters to editors, hand out fliers at local family events, and visit legislative offices every week until they are so sick of us they hide. And then visit some more. Just imagine what one billboard in every town with a web address that had every citation of every thimerosal danger study could do? And, it wouldn't be too terribly expensive per month. In my own town if 20 of us donated $50 we could pay for at least one month, depending on location. How many of us have local autism groups willing to donate a little? Heck, I even have a website I'd be willing to donate to the cause, it's got a catchy name. Anyone interested send me an email, I've been waiting on the right way to set it up. Dr. King didn't sit around and fuss at other black groups for not getting black kids in schools. He took to the streets in peaceful protest, he got other black leaders to join him and broke the walls down one brick at a time. And they did it united. Guest guest
Those are all great ideas Debi! For everyperson on this board, there are hundreds who can't afford a computer. If the bill helps the kids, then I am all for it. I really like your idea of a bunch of us concentrating on one newspaper or television station at a time until they do a report to get rid of us. Absolutely brilliant! I am in. Since the enemy is probably reading this, I suggest we not name any particular stations or newspapers until we get this organized.
