Guest guest
I recently read a book called " The Geography of bliss " . Apparently in spite of the terrible climate and other drawbacks, icelanders are a very happy, and sociable group of people. As measured (via a new science of " happiness " ) they are among the world's happiest countries, which may at least partially explain their longevity. > > Hi All, > > > It seems Icelandic men live long. > > http://tinyurl.com/yulmsp > > http://www.statice.is/?PageID=444 & NewsID=2968 > > Regarding http://tinyurl.com/yulmsp saying: > > Icelandic men have the longest life expectancy in the world, living an average of 79.4 years in 2007, Statistics Iceland said on Thursday. " This is a world record. They live even longer than Japanese men, " Oloef Gardarsdottir, a spokeswoman for the agency, told AFP. Japanese men live on average 78.6 years. Guest guest
Despite its extreme north Atlantic situation, Reykjavik's climate is not as cold as might be expected, its average mid-winter temperatures being no lower than those in New York City. This is because the Icelandic coastal weather is tempered by the warm waters of the Gulf Stream. The city's coastal location does, however, also mean it is prone to wind, and gales are common in winter. Reykjavik is also a very wet city, having on average 213 rainy days out of the year, with spring having slightly more sunny days. > > It¹s a small country with a horrible climate and 6 months of darkness. > Hence the name ³Iceland².
