Our newest production is “Autism: Oh The Possibilities.” We are providing it to your local PBS station at no cost, in hopes they will broadcast the program in your area. If you would like to see the program on your station please contact the Program Director at your local PBS affiliate and request they record the program for future broadcast. Please share the following information with the Program Director: Feed provided by NETA NOLA Code: AOTP 0K1 Program title: AUTISM: OH, THE POSSIBILITIES Episodes/Length: 1/60 (56:46) Feed date/time: Saturday, July 22, 2006 @ 2100-2200 ET/513 The more requests they receive from the community the more likely they are to broadcast the program. Below is a brief description of the program. You may visit our website at kvcr.org for a listing of the other KVCR programs on autism. Short Description: Autism: Oh, The Possibilities is produced in four parts, each with a specific focus. First, “Early Signs and Signals.” This focuses on the important social emotional milestones and tracking healthy development; helping to recognize and evaluate whether or not the baby is meeting the milestones. Secondly, “Possible Causes,” will examine both sides of the literature and dialogue currently available on possible causes and the possible link between vaccines in infancy and autism. Understanding possible causes will assist the prevention and early detection. Third, “Possible Intervention,” looks at an intervention option available to parents and families. Stanley I. Greenspan, M.D. discusses the Developmental, Individual Difference and Relationship-Based (DIR) intervention for children with ASD plus a mother shares her story with two autistic children. Lastly, “Possible Future,” focuses on a program at Marshall University, which is one of only a few colleges in the country, that offer a specific program for students with autism to succeed in college.
