a good day in Nassau Co. today

Today parents and grandparents of children with autism, along side Nassau and Suffolk County Legislators, held a press conference on the steps of the Nassau Co. Legislative building in Mineola, New York to announce a new bill that will require Nassau Co. facilities that dispense vaccines, including NUMC, be entirely " mercury free " in the near future.

At the press conference, Leg. Altmann stated that Nassau County has already ordered their supply of vaccines for this upcoming flu season, but they will " send them back " and get Thimerosal-free vaccines instead. This was a great moment for the children of Nassau County.

Again, very proud to be a Long Islander. The county legislators here " get it " and care enough about their citizens to go public with the truth.

Grandpa Shapiro [and A-CHAMP District Leader and my neighbor]

worked on this for three years. nne Altman is our legislator and

she has been a sometimes controversial figure in our County. She

understands the mercury/vaccine issue and is unafraid to advocate for

our children, even in the face of the public health know nothings.

Legislator Altman and Grandpa Shapiro has done a wonderful service

today for our community and all children.
